Think of your niche as your hook. This is going to be the main basis of your site and should be thought out thoroughly.
The niche I used for this site is affiliating. Even though I can link it into other categories it will soon fall into affiliating information more heavily.
Don't get me wrong though, just because you don't have a well thought out niche does not mean you shouldn't start creating your site.
Any experience is better than no experience. Even if your only reason for making a site is to let the world know your dog ate your shoe, at least you decided to try something new.
Some advice for finding a niche:
- Don't be to narrow or to broad. You want your niche to be able to branch out, but not branch out so much that it is out of context.
- Make your niche something your passionate about and enjoy learning. It is important to have the motivation to learn what you are promoting. Don't assume your site is ever "finished", always update it with new material.
