The Best Way To Learn Is To Teach
Hello, I am new to blogging and affiliating but I do have some knowledge and insight that I'd like to share.
I am starting this blog to not only inform others of what I learn but to also help me gain a better understanding of what I am learning.
If you see something that can be improved upon or is just wrong advice please inform me immediately so I can correct the issue.
Now that I have some of the inconsistencies fore mentioned I will continue.
I started tinkering with HTML a few years back, and have always been intrigued to build web pages and start blogging, and also affiliating for money.
However I always had doubts, or other obligations that deterred me from trying.
Lately though I have been doing a fair share of research and finding good information on how to begin. It's not as complicated as I once thought, nor does it consume incredible amounts of time if your just trying to play around to get started.
In the next posts on this page I will inform you of what I know and hopefully it will help you with what you are trying to do.
Forums
Just to elaborate on the title of this post I would like to add this tidbit.
Forums are usually a free and informative source of information. I myself would compare it to a college education if you are searching for the right information and have the dedication to follow through.
The reason I say this is because forums have a community of people who are divulging information that focuses on a group goal.
In the next few paragraphs and articles I write, I am sure you will find some valuable knowledge that leads you to a better understanding of what you know.
Here is a list of forums to get you started.
Be kind and respectful when you are making posts please.
Here is a link about Forum Etiquette in case you are new to discussion forums.
Even if you don't feel comfortable posting in a forum you should at least search for the posts other people have made. You will most likely find something relevant to what you are looking for.
A Best Web
This is the most active affiliate forum you can ask for. They have a wonderful community waiting to answer questions and talk about issues.
One Of The Most Helpful Links You Will Ever Find.
Web Design Forum
A small hangout to ask and review questions. Here is a good example of the type of information you can receive from knowledgeable people inside these forums. Resources For Learning Web Design.
HTML Forums
The name says it all for this one. It looks like a very active community. You should always Register and Introduce Yourself to forum communities. It lets the host know who is reading and what people are at their site for. Please register for some of these sites and let them know what your interested in learning or sharing. Though I don't think it should be required, I do think it should be encouraged.
Web Pro World
This site has what seems like a well rounded foundation of information. There is a lot to be learned and these people seem like they could point us in the right direction.
If you have clicked on these links and browsed around I'd hope that you have found some very helpful information by now.
A few things I'd like to add before finishing up this post.
Again, be respectful in forums. Try to share what you know and be accepting of what other people have to say.
Always look at forum rules and abide by them. Most people are there to help not to ridicule or be ridiculed.
Use the forum search function frequently.
Try to register and introduce yourself to any forum that you frequent.
Always assume that a question with a seemingly obvious answer has been asked.
Read the stickies in forums that pertain to questions you might have. They are at the top of the forum topics for a reason.

Create A Site
In order to affiliate with something you need something to affiliate with.
I think it is safe to assume that a website is the best place to start when it comes to becoming an affiliate.
To make a website, all you need to do is create a blog, forum, or web page. There are many sites that allow you to do this for free. To save you the hassle I will list a few choices for you.
Blog Hosts
Forum Hosts
Web Page Hosts
After you do a little research to find out which format will be best for you to work with.
If you are having trouble deciding which kind of site to make, consider which kind of information you are going to offer.
Are you informing people of something that requires no feedback? If so then a webpage may be ideal for you, although blogs will work as well.
Are you trying to get feedback on information you provide? Then a forum or blog should be more considerable.

Find Your Niche
What is a niche?
Think of your niche as your hook. This is going to be the main basis of your site and should be thought out thoroughly.
The niche I used for this site is affiliating. Even though I can link it into other categories it will soon fall into affiliating information more heavily.
Don't get me wrong though, just because you don't have a well thought out niche does not mean you shouldn't start creating your site.
Any experience is better than no experience. Even if your only reason for making a site is to let the world know your dog ate your shoe, at least you decided to try something new.
Some advice for finding a niche:

Some advice for finding a niche:
- Don't be to narrow or to broad. You want your niche to be able to branch out, but not branch out so much that it is out of context.
- Make your niche something your passionate about and enjoy learning. It is important to have the motivation to learn what you are promoting. Don't assume your site is ever "finished", always update it with new material.

Getting Traffic
There are numerous ways to get traffic. I'm going to describe the basics that I know and make more advanced posts later.
Before you start promoting your site and asking people to look at it. Ask yourself if it is something that you would take time to read. If it is not ask yourself why and fix the issues.
Usually all you need to attract people is something they find worth reading or looking at.
That being said, let us move on.
A good way to attract the wrong attention is thru traffic exchange. Sites like Easy Hits 4 U, Traffic G, or Traffic Swarm are only good for an uninterested audience. AKA a poor quality hit.
You want attention from people who are interested in what you have to show or offer. Don't fall into the idea that marketing is easy.
Not that they might not be useful later, but for now I want to stick with an approach that would attract more common thoughts from the public than hoping someone finds what I say interesting.
A really fast and simple way to promote a website and get people to circulate it is thru a social network. Don't think of this as Facebook, Google+ or MySpace only. A social network is a gathering of people in a common place.
Ask people you work with to check out your site and ask them what they think. Hopefully they will like it enough to pass it along.
A good way to start this is with business cards. Even if your business card is a folded piece of notebook paper with the web address on it, that is a start.
Another good way to start getting your site into social circles is to mention in it forums. If your site is geared towards something specific find internet communities that are discussing the same things as your site in order to promote it.
If people like what you say they will share it. Just remember to be respectful when sharing your site.
After you start to get your site noticed pay attention to the feedback. Listen to peoples comments on if it is slow at loading, or repetitive content. Any type of negative feedback is good feedback. You will at least know what needs to be fixed and tended to.
One other good way to generate traffic is by linking to your other blogs or websites that you have started already. It never hurts to have a few uncommon links on your page, as long as they aren't considered spam and people find what is on the linked sites as relevant.
Next we will discuss SEO "Search Engine Optimization". We will learn what it is and how it works together.
I hope your finding what I have to say as useful, and please do inform me if I need to make any corrections.
